Skinvive™

Skinvive™ by Juvederm is a new type of injectable hyaluronic acid for improving skin quality in the cheeks. It is different from other hyaluronic acid injectable treatments and is NOT a filler. Skinvive™ does not change the shape, fullness, or structure of the face. It is used as a long-lasting, heavy-duty, deep moisturizer to improve skin smoothness. Skinvive™ was FDA-approved for use in the USA in 2023 but has been used for years in Europe and Canada.

How does it work?

Skinvive™ is injected as microdroplets of hyaluronic acid in a grid across the cheeks. In biopsy studies, Skinvive™ has been shown to increase aquaporin-3 proteins (AQP3) in cells after treatment. AQP3 facilitates the flow of water and glycerol into and out of cells. Glycerol plays an important role in the hydration of the skin and in providing elasticity. Our levels of AQP3 decrease with aging and chronic sun exposure, leading to skin dryness.

Can Skinvive™ be used in conjunction with hyaluronic acid fillers?

Yes, both types of product can be used in the same patient. The functions and purposes of these products are different. Fillers are used to support structure, to lift strategically, and to fill out any areas of volume loss. Skinvive™ is used more superficially in the dermis of the skin to improve surface smoothness.

Can Skinvive™ be used if I get lasers or other energy-based treatments on the skin?

Yes. In fact, hydration is great for healing if you are receiving energy-based treatments that work by generating heat.  ome treatments (like IPL) can be done the same day as Skinvive™. If the treatment involves breaking the skin, such as CO2 laser resurfacing for radiofrequency microneedling, then we would wait until the skin has fully healed before adding in Skinvive™.

Pricing will depend on the amount of product needed. This will be determined by your provider at your consultation. Most clients will receive 1 ml of product per cheek ($650 total). If the client has more dehydration, 3 ml or more may be needed ($300 for each additional 1 ml).
